The Playhouse Company presents Joburg Ballet’s enchanting new production of The Nutcracker on December 18 and 19 in the Playhouse Opera Theatre with live accompaniment by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra.
Evergreen festive fare, The Nutcracker is a classical ballet in two acts, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa. This new version is produced and choreographed by Joburg Ballet’s Artistic Director, Iain MacDonald. The magnificent score by Tchaikovsky will be performed live courtesy of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lykele Temmingh.

20 young Durban boy and girl dancers have been given the amazing opportunity to perform alongside the professionals in The Nutcracker, as the children’s chorus. The dancers are from Celia Davis School of Ballet and Mary Ann Salvage School of Ballet.
The Nutcracker runs in the Playhouse Opera on December 18 at 14h00 and 18h00 and on December 19 at 14h00.
