SBANI SINGS VERDI

 Friends of Music in partnership with iGrandiTENORI will present a concert of excerpts from the works of the great opera composer Giuseppe Verdi. The concert takes place on February 27, 2022, and will featured renowned baritone Sbani Mwelase.

Sbanisenkosi Innocent Mwelase, affectionately known as Sbani, was born and bred in KwaZulu-Natal. He is a civil engineer by day and a singer by night. He has no formal training and is largely self-taught with help and guidance from Inez Nicky Russel.

He has made many public performances and left audiences mesmerised and spell-bound by his powerful and melodic voice.

Joining him on stage at this concert will be other prominent local opera stars, Nokulunga Dlame (soprano), Zamokwakhe Zungu (tenor), Musa Magwaza (bass) and Khayakazi Madlala (soprano). Accompanying them on piano will be Ashan Peiris.

The programme will include music that will make you cry, make you fall in love, and be astounded:

Tickets: R140 (FOM members R120).

There will be a bar service available (please don’t bring you own). Tea and coffee will also be available. There is free and safe parking at the venue.

The concert takes place at 14h00 on February 27, 2022, at the Durban Jewish Centre – 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road, Durban.

All Covid protocols will be observed. Due to the ongoing Covid situation, it is required that a Covid register be kept of all who attend. As a result, we request that you pre-book your seats (You may still pay at the door) Seating is limited.
