AFROGONG LIVE MUSIC FOR THE HEADROOM

AfroGong is a Durban-based music project spearheaded by Mandla Matsha. The music is not confined to one genre; it is a fusion of influences and experiences from various codes of music, from reggae to jazz, RnB, classical, to Afrofunk.

AfroGong performs original music, and is working on an album. AfroGong has an impressive array of Durban-based musicians that reads like an image of a united Africa.

This concert is made possible by The SAMRO Foundation/Concerts SA. Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian live music development project housed under the auspices of SAMRO and managed by IKS Cultural Consulting. Concerts SA receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAMRO and the SAMRO Foundation.

Working with musicians, promoters, venue owners and audiences, and providing support to the sector through research and skills development for music professionals, the project aims to build a vibrant and viable live music circuit in southern Africa. It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.

Supported by Concerts SA, AfroGong Live Music takes place at The Headroom on June 4, from 14h30.

Entrance R200 - includes a meal prepared by Chef Conrad Coetzee. Bookings on 031 459 0840

The Headroom is situated at 21 Bridlington Road, Seaview, Durban.
