DSTV HIGHLIGHTS FOR JULY 15 - 21

This is a big series premiere week on DStv, with kykNET and Mzansi Magic offering viewers a feast of fresh entertainment.

Get ready for the return of Idols South Africa Season 18 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161). From Sunday July 17, Thembi Seete and JR will take up two seats on the judging panel alongside Somizi. Keep glued to your screen to see which of the contestants is on the fast track to becoming this year’s superstar singer?

Thembisa Mdoda Nxumalo is on Mzansi Wethu (DStv Channel 163) to take couples who want to resolve grievances through a lie detector test: will the truth set them on a path to fulfilment? See how the stories unfold on Suxoka S1, starting Saturday 16 July at 20:00.

Inside the Tower of London

July 19 at 20h15 on History (DStv Channel 186)

The Tower of London (see above) was at the heart of state life in the UK for almost 1,000 years and now is one of the most famous buildings in the world. Constructed soon after the Norman conquest of Britain in 1066, it has served as a Royal Palace, fortress, prison, place of execution for queens, and edifice to scare the population, royal zoo, mint and keeper of the Crown Jewels. Yet few know its full story. Aided by historian Stephen Porter of King’s College, University of London who is the author of ‘The Biography of the Tower of London’, and some beautiful re-enactments, we uncover startling stories and terrifying tales.
