Well-known Durban actress/playwright Philisiwe Twijnstra releases her latest news:

“So, The Road is going to be performed in Iceland,” she says with delight. “Darling Desperados Ulrika Malmgren and Katta Pålsson are incredible Swedish producers and I believe The Road will be part of 'HerStory' International Festival curated by Sis Napo Masheane.”

Two weeks ago, Twijnstra was Longlisted for AWPN-Ghana alongside amazing African Women Playwrights.

Twijnstra had her first directorial debut at the National Arts Festival for ZemQadini written by Sboniso Msimang and performed by Bongani Mbatha and Bhekani Shabalala with AD Thamisanqa Simpiwe.

“And gosh, this play has now received two positive reviews from NAF! (made me smile and I'm so grateful).”

The Blue Blue (2022) which is another experimental piece I wrote, combining Animation and Theatre for Darling Desperados, will be doing the rounds as well.

“And today .... I started a new piece, overwhelmed as I was. It has been a fantasy of mine, a surreal moment to sit there and begin a new story. And I just did that...”
