RIVERDANCE AT RHUMBELOW

The next on the Rhumbelow Theatre Classics Cinema programme will be the Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show featuring the gala performance filmed live at the 3Arena in Dublin on February 9, 2020.

In 1994, seven minutes changed the face of Irish dancing forever. The Eurovision interval performance of Riverdance gave millions of people a new and exciting glimpse of the future of Irish dance.

25 years later, the new 25th Anniversary show catapulted the production into the 21st century and completely immersed audiences in the extraordinary and elemental power of its music and dance.

Composer Bill Whelan re-recorded his mesmerising soundtrack while producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan completely re-imagined the groundbreaking show with innovative and spectacular lighting, projection, stage and costume designs. This powerful and stirring reinvention of the beloved family favourite is celebrated the world over for its Grammy Award-winning music and the thrilling energy of its Irish and international dance.

Filmed live in 2020 at the 3Arena Dublin, the exact spot where it all began, the 25th Anniversary Gala Performance of Riverdance appears for the first time on big screen in South Africa.

The Rhumbelow Theatre screening will take place on July 24, 2022, at 14h00. Running time: 120 minutes (including interval).
