Music in The Hills (MiTH) takes place every second Wednesday at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm, Knoll Drive, Hilton. Arguably the KZN Midlands’ best-loved music venue, MiTH is an opportunity for beginners, professionals, and passionate music fans to share the joy of music at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm. The line-up for August 10 is as follows:
19h00: Howick High School Band
Led by perennial joker and sometime teacher
Mark Houston, the Howick High School band is excited to be back at MiTH after a
couple of years of Covid-induced hiatus. The band plays a collection of pop and
rock classics from Fleetwood Mac to the White Stripes and everything in between
(okay, well, not literally everything, but you know what we mean), so there'll
be plenty to sing along to.
20h00: Evo
Hailing from KZN, Evo is an energetic,
vibrant duo, influenced by various genres from CCR, Mumford and Sons, and
Depeche Mode to Jeremy Loops.
Evo plays original songs as well as
covering a few well-known and not-so-well-known tunes. Band members are Evan
Oosthuizen (guitar/vocals/drum) & Lynton Richards (bass).
Through the brand, EVOMUSIC, Evan runs
events at various venues in and around Pietermaritzburg supporting local music,
and collaborating with various artists on the stage. In addition to his solo
career, he is also a member of two other bands.
The genre of music falls into the
acoustic/indie/rock category. EVO currently gigs two to three times a weekend
in and around KZN.
21h00: Undivided Roots
Undivided Roots ZA is a roots, rock, and reggae
band for any occasion. Founded by the legendary Nstangu Cele, who is known as
"Roots", an independent street musician from Edendale,
Pietermaritzburg. The band consists of 7 members: Black Wadada on guitar,
Revival Cele on bass, Heaven Cele on drums, Spear Cele on keyboards, Kingdom
Cele on second keyboards, Rainbow Cele on percussion, and Judgement Cele on
lead guitar.
The members are all brothers and sisters
who make a living from music, by busking locally and outside of
Pietermaritzburg. Undivided Roots has shared the stage with many gifted
musicians, including Johnny Clegg, Gangs of Ballet, Prime Circle, Queen Ifrica,
Watershed, Zahara, and Tony Rebel. Their repertoire includes old-school rock,
blues, and jazz, with a heavy dose of roots reggae guaranteed to get your feet
tapping.
