RAZZMATAZZ With PLATFORM JAZZ


Presented in association with Friends of Music and sponsored by the KZNPAT, Razzmatazz with Platform Jazz will be back at the Durban Jewish Centre on October 30, 2022.

The group features Cathy Peacock on the trumpet, Andre Balocco on the trombone. Kirsten Sayers on the clarinet and Jeff Robinson on the saxophone and flute and the Rhythm section will have Andreas Kappen on the bass, Bruce Baker on drums and Melvin Peters on piano.

This year the vocalists will be an all-girl team featuring jazz songbird Natalie Rungan, effervescent Marion Loudon and velvet-voiced Shelley Mclean–Downham. There will be a guest appearance by Unaye Mndau, one of Rungan’s students from DHS who will sing and play sax.

Razzmatazz will feature a mixture of Dixie, Swing and Latin music. All the jazz favourites are back including In the Mood, Sing Sing Sing, Mack the Knife, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Take 5 and more.

Once again there will be tables of 10 set up so that patrons can bring picnics. Doors open from 13h30. The concert starts at 14h30. There will be a cash bar provided but patrons may bring their own drinks as well.

The concert takes place on October 30, 2022, at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga Road (formerly Old Fort Road), North Beach, Durban.
