Casa Mexicana
Designed and built over 28 years ago by the
late Barry Lovegrove, this garden features a unique combination of extensive
hardscaped elements with an entirely indigenous plant collection. Featuring
many strong architectural features inspired by Spanish style of the house, the
garden has derived an Afro-Mexican concept. Included are water features,
hand-painted tiles, an orchid house and art studio, a secret forest walk, along
with a collection of aloes, plectanthrus, mature trees and numerous potted
succulents. In recent months the garden has been re-imagined by Mike
Hammersley.
This garden is not suitable for people who might struggle with steps. There are no balustrades and many uneven paved surfaces.

Directions: From N3 West – Take Armitage/Sanctuary Road turn off, keep left to Armitage Road, right at the circle to Chatterton/ Town Bush Road, left at the traffic light into Montgomery Drive. From N3 E – take Peter Brown turn off, right at the stop then left at the traffic circle (Athlone Circle Centre) into Montgomery Drive.
