THE NUTCRACKER FILM

The Royal Ballet, London presents The Nutcracker which will form part of Rhumbelow Theatre’s Classic Cinema series, and will run from December 20 to January 6, 2023. The ballet was live streamed on December 8 from London.

What would the festive season be without the magical, uplifting tale of The Nutcracker? The magnificent dancers of London’s Royal Ballet present this timeless and much-loved Christmas story of Clara, her brother Fritz, the handsome Nutcracker Prince, and the Mouse King, screened over the festive season on Rhumbelow Theatre’s big screen.

The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet which means this year it is celebrating the 130th anniversary of the ballet’s premiere. The Nutcracker has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960s and is now performed by countless ballet companies across the globe, especially over the Christmas season. Set on Christmas Eve at a celebratory gathering of family, friends and children, an enigmatic and enchanting story unfolds.

Watching live streaming is the closest experience one can enjoy – without flying to London! It runs real time, with interval, and filed as though one is in the audience.
