3 LEADING CLASSICAL MUSICIANS FOR FOM

Gracing the stage at the Durban Jewish Centre on April 16 at 15h00 for Friends of Music will be three of Durban’s leading classical musicians. Playing trios from renowned composers will be Aristide du Plessis (cello); Ralitza Macheva (violin), and Annamaria D’Andrea (viola).

 

The programme will include:

Schubert: String Trio in Bb major, D. 471

Beethoven: String Trio in D major, op. 9 no. 2

Interval

Mozart: Divertimento for String Trio in E-flat Major, K. 56350 


Aristide du Plessis is the Principal Cellist of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra. He has established a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading cellists, both as a soloist and chamber musician.

 He is a graduate of the University of Cape Town. A Scholarship from the prestigious Oppenheimer Memorial Trust enabled him to further his studies at the Zürich University of the Arts.

 Ralitza Macheva was born in Bulgaria. She is a Graduate of the Pancho Vladigerov Music Academy in Sofia, and the Conservatorium van de Enschede, The Netherlands.

 Since her relocation to South Africa in 2000, she has been the Co-Principal Second Violinist of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Durban. She is the leader of Durban’s Baroque 2000 Orchestra and also has close ties with theTinta Baroca Ensemble in Cape Town.

Annamaria D’Andrea was born in Roma, Italy. She studied at the Conservatotorio di Santa Cecilia where she graduated in 1998.She has performed in many European countries with Italian, Spanish, British and French Orchestras under many acclaimed conductors. She has been with the KZNPO since 2006.
