LET’S BAND TOGETHER

On June 16 at 15h00, there will be a marvellous opportunity for young orchestral musicians between the ages of 10 and 20 to spend a day working with professional players, learning what it is like to be part of an orchestra. This will take place at the Durban Jewish Centre.

There will be a Workshop beforehand from 08h00 to 17h00.

The project called, Let’s Band Together is the initiative of the KZN Youth Orchestra and SASMT committees. Young musicians will have sectional tuition with professionals from the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and then will put five pieces together. This will culminate in a concert at 15h00 which is free but patrons must book. This will feature the KZNPO, the KZNYO and then the massed orchestra.

Funded by the Mzansi orchestra, Friends of Music and the KZN Performing Arts Trust, it will be a wonderful opportunity for orchestral instrument students to come along for a day of fun and to get a feel for what it is like to be part of an orchestra.
