Test Driving the Arts has long played a key role in The Playhouse Company’s arts planning initiative. Devised many years ago, this much-loved lunch hour series emerged as a tried-and-tested template for popular musos and dancers to show their paces, to the delight of workers in and around eThekwini’s CBD, who flock to support them in the Playhouse Porte Cochere area, while enjoying a free midday entertainment break.
The rationale for the long-running venture has always been to offer a prime opportunity for entry level artists to gain professional experience under the aegis of a leading arts body such as the Playhouse. Typically, these events feature practitioners of Hip hop, Pantsula, Afro Soul, Isicathamiya, Afro Pop. Entrance is free, and all are welcome.
