The Gallery at the Studios at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre presents a new exhibition titled Vibrations opening on First Thursday, August 3 and running until October 1, 2023.

“What better way to raise our community’s Vibration, both emotional and spiritual, than through the sensual power of ART and MUSIC!” say the Gallery.

Music and the visual arts are both creative languages that enable freedom of expression. Music is a form of stimulus for most visual artists, resulting in the transformation of sound into something physical which can in turn raise emotional and spiritual frequencies in the artist and viewer.

“Colour directly influences the soul. Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammers, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another purposively, to cause vibrations of the soul.” Wassily Kandinsky, Concerning the Spiritual in Art

The Gallery is proud to present a collaboration of local artists with a wide range of mediums and styles creating a visual experience for all to view, feel and feed from. The professional artists in the main gallery have created artworks inspired by the sounds of specific songs and in some cases their lyrics, too.

In addition, and in true community spirit, we shall be exhibiting a large array of affordable artworks, inspired and created to the sounds of a particular song or album, by our local creative community.

Bring your earphones and use the displayed QR codes to listen to the songs that have inspired the artwork.   “… lend your ears to music, open your eyes to painting, and … stop thinking!” Wassily Kandinsky. Feel the vibrations, share the vibes, relax and unwind while you experience the atmosphere created by artists and musicians, at The Studios, Ballito Lifestyle Centre.

Message from Jane Digby:

“It is with both pleasure and pride that we announce that Lifestyle Centre Ballito will be taking over The Gallery at The Studios from Tuesday August 1 2023. The success of The Gallery to date has been extraordinary in these tough economic times. Thanks to the support of the Centre, the artists represented, the community and our amazing team – together, we have ensured the continuation of this significant hub of the arts on the North Coast. Thank you!

“The Lifestyle Centre sees the significance and importance of The Gallery in the community and the centre and wishes to see it grow from strength to strength. The Gallery at The Studios will continue to have bi-monthly exhibitions, representing a broad range of visual artists. Our dedicated sales team, David Wachania and Irene Webb will continue their great work in The Gallery, and we are proud to introduce you to The Gallery Manager, Sarah O’Reilly, who will be joining the team at the beginning of October.

“Sarah O’Reilly grew up in Pietermaritzburg and has a deep love for KZN. She graduated with an honours degree in Fine Arts from the University of Stellenbosch in 2013 after which she returned to KZN. She spent three years doing wedding flowers and events while furthering her studies after which she transitioned into teaching. She has taught High School Art for the past eight years at Maritzburg College and Ashton International College Ballito.

“O’Reilly moved to Ballito in 2017 and has a deep-rooted appreciation for the area and its community. While she has a passion for education, she is excited to step into the role of The Gallery Manager and brings a new energy, perspective and drive to see it reach new heights. She shares the vision of expanding the arts within our community and working with our talented artists currently represented in The Gallery, as well as looking forward to sourcing new talent, emerging artists as well as established South African artists.

“Personally, I would like to thank all our clients who have supported The Gallery. Without your support and enthusiasm, we are unsustainable. Your support inspires our artists. Thank you to all 305 artists we have represented since our opening, for entrusting your artwork with our small team. It has been an incredible creative journey and I am immensely proud of the shift of awareness of the visual arts we have created on the North Coast. It has been such a pleasure working with our small dedicated team and I am eternally grateful for the support they have given me. We have had a lot of fun!

“Stepping aside, I look forward to a close working relationship with The Gallery, continuing to exhibit, but allowing myself time to focus more on my painting practice, as well as the hosting of my oil painting workshops.

“Our motto has always been “WIN WIN”, a win for clients, artists, Lifestyle Centre, the community and our tourists. Having Lifestyle Centre taking over the reins, I am assured that we have achieved and maintained our motto and shall continue to do so.

With my warmest wishes and looking forward to seeing you @thegallerylifestyle”
