Rhumbelow Theatre in association with the Northlands Bowling Club will present Amy Winehouse - The Diva and her Demons tomorrow (August 30).

The show features Kerry Hiles (bass), Rob Thompson (guitar) and Kristo Zondagh (drums). This is a festival piece so running time is approximately 65 minutes.

Rebellious, adamant, gifted, Amy Winehouse was - first and foremost - a jazz singer. This often gets lost within the scope of her enormous pop stardom, her tempestuous love life and substance-abuse problems. She passed away aged only 27, but if we really want to understand how Amy Winehouse died, we need to look at how she lived...

Amy Winehouse – The Diva and her Demons unpacks the brief and impactful life of this once-in-a-generation talent who captured the imagination of both the mainstream pop chart and lovers of the timeless soul music of yesteryear. The tribute show features 12 of Amy’s hits acoustically interpreted for this live trio.

“Soulfully told by talented singer and actress Kerry Hiles…the production pays homage to one of the world’s most iconic jazz vocalists in a tasteful and respectful manner” - DEVON KOEN, Herald

“Hiles brilliantly changes between accents throughout the performance, making it feel as though it was indeed Winehouse reincarnated on stage…this performance is an authentic ode to one of the greatest musicians of our time.” - ANOKA LATCHMIAH, Grocott's Mail
