Raymond Perrier, director of the Denis Hurley Centre (DHC) has announced a free concert outside the DHC on August 26, 2023 at 11h00.

“August 28 would have been the 81st birthday of our founder, Paddy Kearney, who sadly was taken from us almost five years ago.

“Each year we mark his birthday with a memorial lecture, jointly organised with DUT, the Phoenix Settlement Trust and the Gandhi Development Trust (of which he was also Chair).

“The day before, appropriately in Paddy Kearney Way outside the Denis Hurley Centre (DHC), we will be hosting a free concert to mark Women's Month,” adds Raymond Perrier.

WOMUZO is a project of the UKUSA Arts Programme which has been running music classes at the DHC since 2015. It is a mentorship project for women instrument-alists with an interest in jazz and South African contemporary music, made possible with support from the National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC). The women have been mentored by professional singers, Nosihe Zulu and Lu Dlamini, who guide the young performers by sharing their knowledge and skills.

WOMUZO will be presenting the free concert outside the DHC on Saturday August 26 around 11h00. All are welcome. (Safe paid parking behind the Cathedral).
