The African Music and Dance Program is doing it again as it stages Ukubonga, a free Lunch Hour Concert to be held on October 18, 2023, at 12h15 at the Howard College Theatre - UKZN's Howard College Campus.

Ukubonga is an eclectic pan-African mix of Zulu, Tswana, Chopi, and Tsonga repertoire, uniquely framed to narrate the AMD students' stories speaking to the concert theme Gratitude.

Ukubonga tells the African story of Ubuntu, unearthing community values, tolerance, and mutual sharing through indigenous music, dance, sounds, and artifacts. It further reflects the AMD students' gratitude for the gift of life. This theme is relevant as it invites us to reflect on the current circumstances that have put to test the value of life. The hardships we experience post-COVID issues such as crime, GBV, bullying, and suicide are some examples to which our campuses have not been immune.

The audience should expect a vibrant and engaging concert. Please join in this celebratory encounter.
