FLATFOOT Dance Company, in partnership with the KZNSA, presents Busy Being Blue.
In keeping with its reputation for edgy, beautiful and intelligent dance, FLATFOOT Dance Company once again partners with Glenwood’s iconic KZNSA Gallery on February 23 and 24, to offer a site responsive dance work that asks audiences to join them in close proximity - as they untangle “busy being blue”.
Choreographed in a collaborative offering by the full company; Lliane Loots, Sifiso Khumalo, Jabu Siphika, Sbonga Ndlovu, Siseko Duba, Ndumiso Dube, and Zinhle Nzama, Busy Being Blue kickstarts FLATFOOT’s 21st birthday performance calendar for 2024.
In a fluid display of exquisite contemporary dance, FLATFOOT’s six resident dancers dive into the head and heart of the blues – a nod to some great blues and jazz music, but also to the inner life of struggle and our desperate (and beautiful) fight to be present in this life. FLATFOOT’s artistic director, Lliane Loots says, “Busy Being Blue offers a surprisingly gentle embodied encounter with dance that will leave audiences breathless – and maybe a little reflective”.
Busy Being Blue has two shows only; February 23 and 24 at 18h30. The KZNSA café will be open from 17h00 for dinner and drinks – come early and enjoy an evening under the stars.
Due to limited seating, pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Tickets are R100 (12 and under pay R80) via flafootdancecompany@gmail.com
