Nibs van der Spuy has presented the news that he will be touring KZN with Guy Buttery.
“I am beyond excited to be hitting the road again with my soul brother, Guy Buttery.
“It has been almost three years since we played together,
and our meetings are always a medicine for the heart and soul. We also have a
whole bunch of new tunes which we will sharing on this run, as well as the old
favourites.
“I will be returning to Europe for an extended time, and really wanted this tour to happen with Guy. We have busy solo schedules often in different countries, and planning something like this, the stars have to align. I am so happy that we are in KwaZulu-Natal for a few weeks at the same time.
“People often ask what it is like to play with Guy? My answer is always, “I love our musical interaction and it is truly special.” There is never any pressure to prove a musical point. We have vastly different playing styles and the way we approach our own music, but we share a common love for the sacred place where the music takes us. A friend once described our musical unity as follows. “Their individual and quite distinct finger-style techniques fit each other like the proverbial glove.”
We have shows all over KZN, starting February 29, so will be great to see you on the road. It is going to be biblical.”
