LEX FUTSHANE AT CENTRE FOR JAZZ

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents much-loved bassist Lex Futshane on Wednesday April 24, 2024, at 17h30.

Lex Futshane is an internationally proclaimed electric and acoustic bassist, prolific composer, arranger, performer and educator. He spent many years in Durban performing, arranging music and lecturing in the music departments at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and DUT (Natal Technikon) where he is also a graduate of the former.

He currently lectures the ensemble classes at Wits University. Lex will be playing music from his album Innocent Victims and Perpetrators with hits such as Iculo and uBhuti noHopa. “I came to UKZN to study music and stayed in Durban for 15 years, it is home” said Futshane.

Lex Futshane on acoustic bass will be joined by Zola Futshane on vocals, Phumlani Mtiti on saxophone, Neil Gonsalves on piano and Sbu Ncube on the drums.

The concert takes place at UKZN’s Centre for Jazz and Popular Music on April 24. Doors open at 17h00, Music starts at 17h30.

Tickets: R110 (R80 pensioners, R50 students).

The venue is located at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Howard College Campus, Dennis Shepstone Building, Level 2.
