MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL

What do you get when you combine a powerhouse female bass-playing vocalist with a gruff-voiced virtuoso blues guitarist and a chameleon-esque drummer who can play (and sing) just about anything? Kerry Hiles, Rob Thompson and Kristo Zondagh combine their respective talents and professional experience, impressing audiences countrywide with their touring trio called Misery Loves Company. Together they perform hit tribute shows, cover band material, and original songs to rave reviews.

My Story with the Blues

"My definition of the blues is the naked cry of the human heart longing to be in union with God." - Dion DiMucci

Rob Thompson, PE-based blues guitarist aficionado, uncovers his personal journey in discovering this enigmatic movement in music. From the Latin influence of Carlos Santana, to B.B. King and Little Walter, to more contemporary artists like Dan Patlansky and even Rob's own original compositions. Supported by Kristo Zondagh on drums and vocals with Kerry Hiles on bass, Thompson's passionate playing and singing interspersed with anecdotes has received glowing reviews.

Jou Ma se Platespeler

’n verhaal van tegnologie, politiek en kultuur. featuring music of Koos du Plessis, David Kramer, Johannes Kerkorrel, Laurika Rauch and Karen Zoid (in Afrikaans).

The Story of Eva Cassidy

She never wrote her own music. She never sang her own songs. Her most important album was self-financed; her breakthrough music video was shot on a handheld camera; her largest audience was a handful of people. She died at the age of 33. Then she rose to #1 and sold over 10 million albums.

A Star Is Born

Judy Garland took to the stage at the age of 2, landed a movie contract at 12, won an Academy Award at 17, and impacted the music and movie industry for generations to come. She died aged 47. How did one of Hollywood's brightest stars dim so fast? Kerry Hiles tells the life story of Garland, using songs from Judy's movies to accentuate the tale, accompanied by Luke Holder on piano.

American Sweethearts
