The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is thrilled to present the multiple award-winning South African pianist, Andile Yenana, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 17h30.
Hailing from King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape, Yenana is renowned as one of South Africa's leading jazz pianists, as well as a distinguished composer and producer. His impressive career includes collaborations with Zim Ngqawana, Steve Dyer, and other prominent local and international jazz musicians. Yenana was also a key member of Abdullah Ibrahim's Mbombela Orchestra.
With a reputation for electrifying performances, Yenana has captivated audiences at numerous venues and festivals worldwide. He was also part of the iconic South African jazz ensemble, the Voice Jazz Quintet, alongside Marcus Wyatt, Sidney Mnisi, Herbie Tsoaeli, and Morabo Morajele. The Quintet's two albums are must-haves for any South African jazz enthusiast. Additionally, Yenana has released two solo albums: We Used to Dance (2002) and Who’s Got the Map (2005).
