The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music in collaboration with The Music Imbizo proudly presents Matti Klein Trio (Germany) on Tuesday August 27, 2024, at 17h30.

Expect an unforgettable evening with the Matti Klein Soul Trio, a band that epitomises the essence of soul jazz. Founded in 2017, this Berlin-based trio offers a fresh take on the genre, blending the timeless warmth and groove of 60s and 70s soul jazz with their unique, contemporary style.

The Matti Klein Soul Trio stands out with its distinctive sound, rooted in classic electric pianos like the Rhodes and Wurlitzer. Band leader Matti Klein, known for his work with Mo' Blow and Ed Motta, brings his expertise and passion for analogue sounds to the forefront. His Fender Rhodes piano bass, with its iconic orange bonnet, is a key element of their signature sound.

Saxophonist and bass clarinettist Lars Zander adds rich textures and innovative effects, often shifting between instruments and roles to enhance the trio's dynamic performances. Drummer André Seidel, also a familiar face from Mo' Blow, provides a solid rhythmic foundation while showcasing his skills as a soloist.
