One year after The Refinery (https://www.refinery.co.za/) and Sound & Motion Studios (https://www.soundandmotion.co.za/) announced their strategic partnership at DFM2023, the post production powerhouse duo announces their new Johannesburg facilities at DFM 2024.
South Africa’s premier picture post facility The Refinery, and boutique audio post company Sound & Motion Studios, have been hard at work over the last year finishing hundreds of hours of content for local and international clients in the streaming, broadcast, gaming and theatrical space since their partnership. This year marks the move to their new purpose-designed facilities at Peter Place Office Park.
Alastair Orr, CEO of The Refinery, says: “We’re thrilled to re-open The Refinery with its cutting-edge Johannesburg facility, now equipped with 12 offline suites, 2 grade theatres, and a powerhouse VFX team, all seamlessly linked to our Cape Town branch. Already buzzing with numerous projects, our trendy new space is set to offer clients a fun, relaxed and creative space while we get the hard work done!”
Simon Ratcliffe, MD of Sound & Motion, adds: “We’d all decided to unite our companies under one roof in Johannesburg a few years ago, so this partnership with The Refinery couldn’t have come at a better time.”
“We’re super excited to welcome our loyal clients and friends of the last 22 years to our new Dolby Atmos, cinema, music and editorial spaces, linked across our other branches and associates in Cape Town, Amsterdam, LA and Lagos,” says Richard West, GM, Sound & Motion Joburg.
