CHRISTOPHER DUIGAN UPDATE ON CAPE CONCERTS

(Christopher Duigan. Pic by Val Adamson)

Pietermaritzburg-based Steinway pianist Christopher Duigan provides an update on future concerts:

There have been a number of queries as to when I will be performing in Cape Town, Franschhoek, Hermanus and other major centres in SA.

It is highly unlikely I will be returning. I intend to continue only with a few local performances, in community venues, close to home in the KZN.

Music Revival

In the next few months I will also be phasing out the Music Revival project, website and brand banner. I will continue under my own name. Under current conditions the opportunities and feasibility to promote guest and visiting artists, the essence of Music Revival, is no longer viable.

Thank you for your support in recent years

Regards,

Christopher Duigan

In February-Magnificent Classics

The Magnificent Classics programme, a selection of favourites from Duigan’s repertoire, and includes George Frederic Handel’s Chaconne in G HWV 435 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s exhilarating ‘Waldstein’ Sonata op 53 – one of his most iconic and revered compositions.

Duigan will also play Claude Debussy’s Reflets dans l’eau (Reflections in the water) and Liszt’s Harmonies du soir from his Transcendental Etudes, a powerful and emotionally resplendent composition. The programme ends with the ‘Heroic’ Polonaise in A-flat Op 53 by Frederic Chopin; one of the composer’s boldest compositions and one which gives voice to a nation’s cry for freedom following the Russian invasion of Poland of 1831.

This concert is open to all!
