MY FAIR LADY FOR DURBAN

Message from The KickstArt Team

Here we are already in the second month of 2025! Time really does gallop apace, doesn’t it?

We are writing to you with great excitement, because although KickstArt has some really exciting projects coming up later this year, which we will tell you all about very shortly, the first major theatrical event that we are involved with is coming to The KZN Playhouse’s Opera Theatre in March: Lerner and Lowe’s My Fair Lady! Yes, the world’s best-loved musical is coming to Durban after sold out, critically acclaimed seasons in Cape Town and Johannesburg!

Although this beautiful production is presented by Pieter Toerien Productions and Cape Town Opera in association with The Playhouse Company, it has been directed by Steven Stead, and designed by Greg King, KickstArt’s two creative directors, so we feel that we have some artistic skin in the game, and we are really looking forward to sharing their work with you, our loyal Durban audience!

Boasting a bouquet score, containing timeless songs such as I Could Have Danced All Night, Get Me to the Church on Time, Wouldn’t It Be Loverly, I’m Just An Ordinary Man, On the Street Where You Live, The Rain in Spain, and I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face, this grand production is set to enthral audiences of all ages.

It features a talented, vibrant cast of 38 actors drawn from across the country, and stars Craig Urbani as Henry Higgins, Durban’s own Leah Mari as Eliza Doolittle, Mark Richardson as Alfie Doolittle, and veteran Graham Hopkins as Colonel Pickering.

So often big musical theatre productions don’t come to Durban, and we are delighted that The Playhouse Company has had the foresight and the vison to bring this handsome, exciting show to our town!

It will be playing at The KZN Playhouse from March 8 to 16 for 10 performances only! Book as soon as you can, because we know it is selling incredibly fast, and there aren’t many seats available. We are sending you this mail to make sure that you don’t miss out on the theatrical event of the year.
