Come and join us for some fab films. Roland Stansell from
the Rhumbelow Theatre invites cinephiles to the Rhumbelow
Film Club.
Rhumbelow Theatre Film Club takes place every Wednesday evening.
Nearing three years since its inception, the Rhumbelow Theatre Film Club is going from strength to strength at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo.
With cinemas either closing or becoming really expensive, and Netflix becoming very stay-at-home-predictable, enjoy the notion of an old-fashioned movie night out with friends … with a drink in your hand (which is not an over-iced and over-priced Coca-Cola. In fact, it can be an adult beverage – at club prices) and affordable snacks and light meals (other than popcorn).
The Rhumbelow Theatre, home to cabarets, comedy and musical theatre opens its doors every Wednesday for a smorgasbord of fabulous films from old vintage and classics to more modern and interesting films. The Rhumbelow Film Club is also screening the BBC documentary, the War on Worlds monthly on a Tuesday.
Rhumbelow film lovers get together weekly. The Film Club is membership-based, with Cinephiles (lovers of movies) paying a subscription to join. The month of June, Roland Stansell, who runs the Rhumbelow is inviting members, and guests to bring a couple of friends along to experience the relaxed and affordable atmosphere. Membership is R300 for six months, with a WhatsApp group informing you of what’s on and what’s coming.
SASSA grant recipients can join the film club for free. Once you are a member, there will be no further charge to attend the movie nights.
Food is available at the venue. Bar is also available and there is a tea / coffee station (no drinks may be brought on to the premises)
