Fett Diva Productions presents double bill at Square Space Theatre.
Following the sell-out-success of their productions of Night, Mother and The Lover, Fett Diva productions is proud to present a new double bill…
This time, the team will tackle two very different pieces: John Pielmeier’s Agnes of God, and Sybill Pearson’s madcap comedy Sally and Marsha.
Directed by Tanya van der Walt, and with sets by Stephen Woodroffe, Agnes of God tackles the difficult subject of faith and belief. The play tells the story of Agnes, played by Janna Ramos-Violante, a young novice nun who is found unconscious on the floor of her cell one night, the body of her strangled newborn in the rubbish bin. The play examines the events leading up to this terrible murder, through the eyes of the Court-appointed psychiatrist, Martha Livingstone played by Tamar Meskin who seeks to understand exactly what has happened. In her attempts, she is confronted by the protective Mother Superior, portrayed by Alison Cassels, whose belief that Agnes is a saint impairs her judgement.
Sally and Marsha directed by Tamar Meskin also plays on sets created by Stephen Woodroffe. The play features Josette Eales as Sally, a woman who has recently moved to New York from South Dakota to follow the promise of her husband’s very unfruitful career in sales and Libby Allen as Marsha a true-to-the stereotype neurotic New Yorker who lives in the flat opposite the hall. We follow the two very different women in a very funny journey to becoming friends.
The plays run alternating nights at the Square Space theatre on the UKZN campus from October 30 to the November 9.
