Playhouse launches programme to assist artists bridge the gap between amateur professional work.
The Playhouse Company plans to facilitate the launch of an arts development programme to assist performing arts practitioners in the fields of drama, dance and music, in order to assist artists who aspire to bridge the gap between amateur productions and those of a professional standard.
The Playhouse Company’s annual New Stages programme is conceived as a professional platform to showcase newly-created South African productions. The company actively encourages committed arts practitioners in KwaZulu-Natal to take up the challenge, and play an active part in this exercise. The ultimate aim is to promote the creation of quality South African productions. It is envisaged this process will involve both amateur and professional artists, working collaboratively in creating new works that tell stories of South Africa in a manner that is authentic, prolific and sellable to various audiences.
A meeting for all interested will be held on November 7 at 15h30 at The Playhouse. For more information about The Playhouse Company’s role in facilitating the community arts development programme, contact Pascar Dube, Playhouse Drama Co-Ordinator, on PascarD@playhousecompany.com
