Monarchy: The Royal Family At Work, starting on August 17 at 20h30 on BBC Knowledge (channel 251 on DStv) provides a fascinating insight into the life and work of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family over the course of a year, showing how the Royal Family fulfils its duties at home and abroad in this informative documentary series.
During the series, viewers will see how the palace prepares for the Queen's state visit to the United States to mark the 400th anniversary of the first permanent English settlement in the Americas, at Jamestown, Virginia. And an impressive state banquet is held for President Kufuor of Ghana and the palace ballroom is transformed into the magnificent backdrop for the investiture ceremony, with footballer Steven Gerrard and actress Penelope Keith among those nervously lining up to receive an honour.
Monarchy: The Royal Family At Work also goes behind the scenes to show the hard work that goes on all year round at the palace, from the Queen planning her engagements to her ladies-in-waiting sorting through the royal postbag.
