Weekly lunch-hour concerts from the University of KwaZulu-Natal Music School.
The University of KwaZulu-Natal Music School hosts regular lunch-hour concerts during semesters with an interesting and varied programme.
August 24: Jacqui Wedderburn-Maxwell. Jacqui was recently runner-up in the Unisa National Strings Competition and will participate in the ATKV Muziq Competition in Bloemfontein in September before starting her music studies at the Trinity College London. She will perform works by Beethoven, Franck, Sarasate, Temmingh, Szymanovski and Schredin
August 26: Brett Alborough and Anele Mnguni. Brett (recorder) and Anele (bassoon) have also been selected to participate in the ATKV Muziq Competition in Bloemfontein in September. They will perform works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Gordon Jacob and other composers. They will be accompanied by Liezl-Marét Jacobs.
August 31: Pregalathan Singaram. This will be a concert of South Indian Classical music led by Vidwan Sri Pregalathan Singaram (Mridangham). He will be accompanied by Dr. Sudhashree Singaram (violin), Smt. Yogambal Singaram (vocals) and Sri. Saravasen Solai (ghatam)
Concerts take place from 12h15 to 13h15 in Howard College Theatre on the UKZN Durban campus and entrance is free. More information from 031 260 3353.
