Golden Productions are proud to announce that Sony Television's Boogie Woogie is all set to roll for 2009 and auditions will take place on September 26 at Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World.

“We are proud to have brought the International trophy home from the International finals 2008,” says Golden Productions director, Yarisha Rajcomar, “so the excitement is enormous for this year’s Boogie Woogie as many hopefuls are preparing for their chance in the spotlight.

Boogie Woogie, which debuted on the telly screen in 1996, was the creation of Javed Jaffery and Ravi Behl. They never believed it would be one of India’s successful dance shows. Boogie Woogie has been a launchpad to many successful dancers.

"Unlike other talent hunt shows, where the winners fade away into oblivion, our show has given many choreographers to showbiz," says Javed with great pride.

The original dance show, Boogie Woogie, is only one of its kind, to hit Indian television and Sony Television’s Boogie Woogie, is currently celebrating 13 years. Continuing to rock the small screen with its undying energy, enthusiasm and great dancing, Boogie Woogie has entertained and enthralled viewers from ages six to 60 who now make up an loyal fan base. The show has also become a platform to showcase talent across all backgrounds, age groups, genders and cities.

Celebrity star power, as guests on the show, prove the popularity and the interest generated over the years. Among the Bollywood stars who have been part of the production are Juhi Chawla , Esha Deol, Diya Mirza , Govinda, Vivek Oberoi, Malika Sherawat, Prabhudeva, Shefali Zariwala, Himesh Reshimmiyya, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Urmilla, Sonu Nigam, Mahima Choudray and Sunil Shetty.

“Sony Television’s Boogie Woogie, is a carnival where people from all over the country come, dance, cheer and enjoy themselves,” adds Yarisha Rajcomar. “South Africa undoubtedly needs to be part of this show, where people come and participate for the love of dancing and to realize their wildest dreams. Golden Productions has allowed for this to take place and have once again secured the rights for the competition to grace our shores.”

The selection process will commence with the auditions on September 26 from 09h00 to 17h00 in the Delano Room at the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World and on October 3 in Johannesburg. There is no fee for the auditions and the competition is open to age groups 6 to 21, regardless of dance training and experience. While hopefuls are welcome from all dance styles and forms, they must perform to Bollywood music or Indian Pop music, no medleys allowed.

Entry forms will be given out at the auditions. Auditionees are required to bring a copy of their birth certificate / ID to the venue. They will be required to perform a three minute dance piece for a panel of judges, who will decide on those who will make it to the Semi-finals on October 10. Only solo performances will be allowed and contestants must be dressed accordingly for their performance.

After the auditions round, contestants will have to battle it out in the Semi-finals for a place in the televised National Finals to take place later this year. The ultimate search is for one Senior and one Junior participant to represent South Africa in the International Finals. At the international finals, the two representatives will compete with other representatives from various countries such as Dubai, USA, Kenya, India and UK for the dance master title.
