National tour of “Klassieke Chameleon” to reach Durban on September 18.

Chris Chameleon is taking his successful production, Klassieke Chameleon, on a national tour from September 6 to19, visiting cities such as Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Cape Town, Secunda, Durban and Johannesburg.

The tour is in response to unprecedented requests from around South Africa to present Klassieke Chameleon on a wider basis. “It is really an honour for me to visit all these cities,” says Chris Chameleon. “It is a big production with a full band, but it is one of the most exciting projects I have been working on.”

Chris adds a classical flair to his music by performing with musicians on cello, violin, flute, piano, guitar and with percussions. Classical renditions of his Eerste Oogopslag, Sterredank, Die Onverkrygbare, Bitterbessie Dagbreek and Saved are performed along well-known classical favourites such as O Sole Mio, Here Comes The Night, Sunrise Sunset and Die Onse Vader.

Innovative, prolific and endlessly creative, Chris Chameleon is currently hailed as a phenomenon on the South African Music front. He has a style all his own and a reputation for mesmerizing audiences with his four-octave voice range and irresistible stage personality. His versatile and exceptional talent has won him rave reviews and a total of 16 impressive awards over the past three years, including a SAMA and a Medal of Honour from the South African Academy of Science and Arts.

In 2004, Chris decided to follow a solo career and this presented him with the opportunity to explore his South African roots by releasing the critically acclaimed Ek Herhaal Jou (“I repeat you”) a composition of iconic 60's poet Ingrid Jonker's poetry. Ek Herhaal Jou was nominated for a 2006 South African Music Award for Best Adult Contemporary Afrikaans Album. It reached gold status in South Africa in July 2006 and platinum status in December 2007.
