STANKO MADIC FOR KZNPO

(Pic: Stanko Madic)

Serbian pianist to perform Khachaturian Violin Concerto on October 15.

Naum Rousine will be the conductor at the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra’s next World Symphony Season concert on October 15.

Khachaturian’s characteristic musical style that draws on the melodic and rhythmic vitality of Armenian folk music is reflected in his virtuosic and unaffectedly expressive Violin Concerto. This work provides the ideal showcase for the talents of Serbian pianist Stanko Madic. Also on the programme is Enesco’s popular Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1 in A major, which succinctly encapsulates the Rumanian gypsy style of music and the mastery of the composer. Other items are Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 Scottish in A minor.

Join the Friends of Music at the Royal Hotel at 18h15 for a pre-concert chat about the evening's programme. Tickets R30 include light refreshments. Alternatively, meet friends at the King Club (Playhouse Theatre, entrance in Albany Grove) for a pre-concert drink and a light snack from the Tapas menu.

Single concert tickets available from R60. Tickets available from Computicket. Up to 25% discount is offered on subscriptions – contact 031 369 9404 or email: Bookings@kznpo.co.za
