TWISTING TESTING SUMMER

Musical Dance Production at Emmanuel Cathedral, Church Hall on December 12.

Durban choreographer and dancer Dudu Myeza has created an innovative new piece – Twisting Testing Summer – for his Youngs Helping Youngs Project which has its second performance at the Emmanuel Cathedral Hall – Hall One, on December 12. The first performance took place on December 5.

Twisting Testing Summer is a new piece created on and for Durban kids and the city’s surroundings. It is about youngsters who came together with the aim of celebrating the coming of the festive eve since they were bored from the middle of the city most of the time. They have been attending dance classes at the Playhouse since July 2009 under the tutoring of Dudu Myeza. This dance classes will continue next year for other youngsters who are interested to join.

Twisting Testing Summer is a pure multi-cultural contemporary piece and lasts one hour and 30 minutes. It is interspersed with the dancing energy, vibe and elements of Indian style, Kwaito and Hip-Hop dance.

“The theme talks to me,” says Dudu. “It is time to wake up and smell the new coming of Christmas Eve and summer. Let’s celebrate and enjoyed together with families and friends during these holidays. Let’s test the beauty of summer and let’s twist our bodyies and get ready for the coming new season of swimming.”

The performance takes place at 18h00 on December 12 in Emmanuel Cathedral’s Hall One,1 Dennis Hurley Road (Cathedral Church Hall). Tickets R40 booked through Dudu Myeza on 079 536 5244 or call at the Cathedral.
