Jaziel Vaugh'hann to launch CD in Hillcrest.
Popular performer Jaziel Vaugh'hann, well-known for his appearances in Sue Clarence Promotions’ adult pantomimes, will launch his CD, Heaven Only Knows on July 24.
Jaziel “Jaz” Vaugh'hann was born in Overport, Durban, and his mother claims that he could sing before he could talk, accompanying songs on the radio and entertaining friends and family. His great grandmother Rosie Kinners was a singer and musician, and played various musical instruments.
He attended SRS Primary and later moved to Cape Town with his mother and baby sister, later returning - three years and four schools later - to Durban to begin High School. “Although I always admired them, I was always too shy to join the school choir,” he explains. “I moved around a lot as a child, never staying anywhere long enough to establish myself, though I did make a lot of friends along the way.”
His first attempt to sing publicly was at the age of 13 with his sister Joey in a duo called The Young Brother and Sister Duo which he describes as “two little podgy karaoke singers with big dreams of performing to thousands.” Later, aged 14 and 11 respectively, the two were asked to perform at the Grand Opening of Tiger City, the first major shopping centre in Swaziland. This sparked Jaz’s passion for music and he started doing vocal impersonations of artists like Bryan Adams, Maroon5 and Andrea Boccelli.
Making his theatrical debut in 2008, he played the role of Prince Charming in the adult pantomimes Sleeping Beauty and Sinderella. He writes his own material and is now kept busy as a solo artist and with colleagues Belinda Dolphin and Loraine McVean. His next appearances include The Fabulous 50's at Rhumbelow, Elvis Has Left The Building, the Witness Hilton Arts Festival, and Shall We Dance at the Playhouse.
Heaven Only Knows is his first album. “I believe that this album to be a good reflection of who I am and have written songs everyone can relate to, both young and the young at heart.” The CD launch takes place at Rythmic Beat in Hillcrest at 11h00 on July 24.
