Making a welcome return to the Westville Country Club on September 18 will be the fun jazz band Platform Jazz. This year they have a slightly different line-up of musicians including Cathy Peacock on trumpet, Ian Holloway on clarinet, Duncan Wooldridge on trombone, Vicky Goddard on sax and vocals, Andreas Kappen on double bass, Bruce Baker on drums and the inimitable Melvin Peters on Keyboards. Also joining them this year is the wonderful cabaret artist and velvet voiced Sam Marais.
Some favourites to listen out for will be some traditional Dixie numbers such as Chicago and Sweet Georgia Brown. Sam will sing a selection of standards including his version of Mr Bojangles, Makin Whoopie and Mack the Knife and Vicky will entertain with the likes of My Baby Just Cares for Me and Route 66, to name a few. This group played to a sold-out audience at the Village of Happiness in August and had rave reviews. Their brand of entertainment is infectious and even if jazz is your bag, don't miss this fun evening! Their performance here last year was a sell-out. Limited seating is available so book early to avoid disappointment.
Tickets R130 pp includes dinner. The evening starts at 19h00 on September 18, Bookings through Katy Ross on 031 2661391 or email functions@westvillecountryclub.co.za Further information from Cathy Peacock of Platform Jazz at cathypea@webstormsa.co.za or on 082 349 8362.
