Friends of Music will host a recital by Russian pianist Vassily Primakov (pictured), Classical Recording Foundation’s Young Artist of the Year 2007. He has been described as “a pianist’s pianist and a giant of the keyboard” and as having produced “one of the great Chopin recordings of recent times”. His programme will commemorate Chopin’s birth 200 years ago.The Prelude Player for the evening will be Matteuz Kneblewski, a member of the Kearsney Choir. The choir obtained a gold award when 470 choirs performed in China.
The recital takes place on September 14 at 19h45 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort Road, Durban. Tickets R70 (R60 FOM members and R20 students / orchestral members). There is safe parking. Friends of Music is funded by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund.
