Fine Arts graduate and art gallery curator, Munira Motala has assimilated different identities in her work to create a genre that is completely hers. She reinterprets African Art by integrating Mediterranean and Berber sensibilities. Her techniques include stained glass and pyrography, fusing natural fibres such as wood, metal, beads, and glass.
Her exhibition The Mind’s Eye runs at the Alliance Française de Durban until February 26 (open from 09h00 to 18h00) and entrance is free. The Mind’s Eye exhibition will close off with a Saturday brunch and light music at 11h00. Meet the artist, indulge in a late morning meal and have a chat! Entrance R25.
Munira Motala will also present a three-day Stained Glass Workshop from February 15 to 17 from 10h00 to 13h00 at Alliance Française de Durban. Learn the antique technique of stained glass or offer the workshop as a gift to your loved one!
