Hilton College will present War Cry, a play written by John van der Ruit (author of Spud).
Set in a South African traditional boys' boarding school during the mid 1990's, John van de Ruit's compelling early work is an unflinching look at the tension between truth and reputation.
By using the dorm and classroom as a microcosm this dramatic work poignantly explores the birth pains of South Africa, whilst at the same time exposing the prejudices that lie behind the glossy veneer that society presents. It is a work rich in humour and pathos and will leave the audience to answer difficult questions about the nature of good and evil.
War Cry runs in the Hilton College Theatre from June 21 to 23 at 19h30. Tickets R40 (free to teachers accompanying school groups). Bookings on 033 383 0126 or email tickets@hiltoncollege.com
