LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS

 (Richard Cock)

Glorious music and song will thrill audiences at the Playhouse Opera for the 23rd Last Night of the Proms tomorrow night (October 20)

The British Cultural & Heritage Association offers the opportunity of capturing the fun, unique atmosphere of this great musical occasion. Conducted by the much-loved Richard Cock, the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Durban Symphonic Choir, Guest choirs and soloists, the KZN Pipes and Drums, the Parker Studio of Celtic Dance will perform a variety of pieces celebrating the joy of music. Don’t miss this unique gala event on Durban’s music calendar.

The concert takes place at 19h00 tomorrow night (October 20) and booking is at Computicket.

Thanks to the partnership and support from the KZN Department of Arts and Culture, the “Last Night of the Proms” concert project expanded this year to include a choir workshop to help grow the development aspect of the event.  For the first time, choir leaders were invited to join the conductor and the participating choirs for a training workshop slot. The workshop included training about how a conductor works with choirs to prepare them for a major orchestral concert; how to get the best out of the participants and how to guide and prepare choristers for a performance.
