The next Showcase at the Musketeers Restaurant is back on its usual date of
the first Wednesday of the month (November 7) with an impressive line-up:
John Ellis is a Durban singer-songwriter
and guitarist and previous lead singer of the band Tree 63 who were signed to
both UK and US record labels. He once made an album called Nothing Rhymes With Orange which was not released. He boasts two
solo albums: Come Out Fighting (2010)
and Rural (2012). He finds his themes
in politics, social injustice and his spirituality. He also has a reputation as
a philanthropist, especially in the business of redistribution of guitars.
Dave Charles is a seasoned guitarist and
singer who once paid his way in Johannesburg by means of session guitar work
before moving into acting, broadcasting and his current occupation of
publishing. He writes and edits a lot of what he publishes and is in demand as a
Zulu Battlefield tour guide.
Toneles is the Tony and Lester de Freitas duo,
embracing a broad variety of musical styles drawn from Rock, Blues and Jazz. A
highlight of their live show is the
"Flamenco-Rock" sound of Spanish guitars a la Rodrigo y Gabriella.
The Acoustic Blues Band had a successful
launch at the recent Durban International Blues Festival.
