The Playhouse Company will host the 16th
Annual Iscathamiya Competition at the Playhouse on September 28.
This popular traditional festival has
become a red letter date on the Arts and Culture calendar for Durban and the
province of KwaZulu-Natal, attracting entrants from around the province. A total
of 118 groups competed in the preliminary competitions which took place in 13
districts.
The competition is made up of two
categories: Champions consisting of 24 groups including last year’s finishers,
Zamani Home Boys, Xolo Home Boys and more; the standard category has 26 groups
competing. The winning group will, once again, in addition to the cash prize,
receive a goat.
The competition starts at 20h00 on September
