Friends of Music’s first recital of the year will take place
on January 14 and will feature Joanna Frankel (violin) and Christopher Duigan (piano).
Joanna Frankel is the Concert Master of the KZN Philharmonic
and garners worldwide acclaim for her artistry and technical prowess. Christopher
Duigan is an official Steinway Pianist and one of the leading pianists in South
Africa.
Their programme is titled Romantic Renaissance and will include Elgar’s Sonata for violin and
piano, Chanson de Matin and de Nuit; Brahms’
Sonata in D Minor, Mozart Sonata in E Minor and de Falla’s Danse Espagnole.
The Prelude Performer, thanks to the support of the National
Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, will be Ewan Slabber. He will perform the
first movement from Beethoven’s Sonata in E and Mendelssohn’s Rondo Capriccioso.
The recital will take place at 19h45 on January 14 at the Durban
Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort (K E Masinga) Road, Durban. There is safe parking.
