Friends of Music In Association with KZN
Zionist Council will present Israeli pianist Dr Astrith Baltsan in an exciting
multi–media performance tonight (February 25).
The virtuoso artist weaves the Israeli
anthem into a fascinating personal show, containing music by Mozart, Chopin,
Smetana, Jewish Israeli Folk, pop and rock tunes.

Mehta.
Astrith Baltsan was born in Israel and is a
Summa Cum Laude graduate of both piano and musicology depts. She is a first
prize winner in the Canadian Banff Concerto competition and received numerous
awards from Yale University, Tanglewood, Festival La Gesse Festival in France,
Festivals in Munich and Switzerland.
The Prelude Performer (a programme
supported by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund) will be Kelsey
Rogers on violin. She has performed as a soloist with the KZNPO and toured to
Germany as a member of the KZN Natal Youth Orchestra. Accompanied by Nina
Watson on piano, she will perform Handel’s Sonata in D major and Albeniz’s Tango.
The recital will take place on February 25
at 19h45 at the Durban Jewish Centre at 44 Old Fort (K.E. Masinga) Road, Durban.
