THE STARS ARE OUT TONIGHT

(Clinton Philander)

Audiences who have been following supper theatre and cabaret in Durban over the years will remember a regular performer who used to grace the stages of Durban with his own brand of whacky entertainment and high energy delivery.

Now back in Durban after 11 years on the Barnyard circuit, Clinton Philander has chosen The Heritage Theatre to make his local “comeback” to the Durban theatre scene with a brand new and vibrant musical variety compilation entitled The Stars Are Out Tonight.

The show features many of Clinton’s “alter egos” from his long and distinguished cabaret theatre career such as Basil Pesto from When Basil Met Elvis.

Clinton is joined on stage by a cast of newcomers to The Heritage Stage. There’s Graeme Wicks, who has also worked the Barnyard circuit, as well as featuring in various KickstArt productions, vivacious and sexy California based songstress Simone Mann, Angela Val Verde and last but not least, Clinton’s very own offspring Josh, who first appeared with his father at the ripe old age of 4 in a production called The King and Us – A Tribute to Nat King Cole. Now 20, Josh can croon and swoon with the best of them and is currently studying Drama at DUT. A bright future surely awaits him.

This high energy, table-banging crowd pleaser features songs from a myriad of genres, and showcases such artists as Liza Minnelli, Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, The Beach Boys, Kenny Rogers, Bob Marley, Robin Thicke, Avici, Michael Buble’, Bette Midler, Kim Carnes, Chris De Burgh, Elton John and many more.

If you feel like a tug of nostalgia and a party at the same time, then this show is for you!

The show runs at the Heritage theatre in Hillcrest from February 18 to March 9. Tickets R185 Tuesday dinner and Sunday lunch and R215 Wednesday to Saturday including a two-course meal. There are three promotional “low price previews” on February 18, 19 and 20 when tickets will be on a R215 buy-one-get-one-free basis. Booking is essential on 031 765 4197 or online at www.heritagetheatre.co.za

The Heritage Theatre is situated in Hillcrest Heritage Market. There is safe parking in the undercover area which has direct access to the theatre.
