KZNPO MOTHER’S DAY CONCERT

(Njabulo Madlala)

Imagine picnicking on Durban’s Kingsmead cricket field whilst listening to the full live KZN Philharmonic Orchestra on Mother’s Day?

In a special concert designed to make every mother happy, the KZN Philharmonic has invited leading South African artists to make music with them on May 11.

Classically-trained, leading R & B singer Loyisa Bala is just one of the attractions, delighting the audience with Maybe and I want you. Also in action will be Toya Delazy with her sultry jazz, electro, hop-pop combinations and singing Pump it on and Love is in the Air. Natalie Rungan, featuring her jazz and R & B sounds, will mesmerize the audience with I’ve got you under my Skin and Somewhere out there. Not often that you will hear these stars accompanied by a 70-piece live orchestra!

Then there is the not-to-be-missed Melanie Lowe with I’ll be gone. Sweetest of Rhymes and My Immortal as well as exciting baritone Njabulo Madlala who has recently been announced as the Standard Bank’s Young Artist of the Year.

Bongani Tembe, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the KZN Philharmonic, believes that mothers are the bedrock of our society. “One of our orchestra’s key commitments is to engage with members of our diverse communities. We are presenting this concert to recognise all mothers in Ethekwini and to create an opportunity for their families to spoil them on their special day.”

The concert starts at 15h00 and gates will open at 13h00, allowing audience members to find their spot and enjoy their picnic before the music begins. Seating is available on the north stand, the Q & R benches, the north-west grass bank as well as on the cricket field. Entrance is through the north turnstiles. Bring your own picnic, rugs, deckchairs and spend a happy, relaxing afternoon soaking up magnificent entertainment.
