The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway will be bringing
highly acclaimed brothers-in-song, The Campbells, to Durban for one night only
on November 14.
Consisting of brothers Harry and Tony, The Campbells
present a unique repertoire of country hits combined with Afrikaans music, most
of which is original. They tailor their shows to suit the audience, with their
shows being interactive. Some 15 albums and six DVDs later, The Campbells have
established themselves as South Africa’s favourite duo, and have sold more than
700,000 CDs and DVDs.
Songs like Bietjie Bietjie Lam, Vat My Vas,
Sewe Soene, Mamma Maria and Rooi Rok Bokkie will always be
remembered.
It was during their tertiary education that The
Campbells decided to start up a recording studio. At this stage, Harry was a
gifted guitarist and Tony played drums, keyboards and was the lead vocalist in
the group. Every year, The Campbells improved musically and performed more
often and to bigger audiences.
In 2010, The Campbells won a SAMA (South African Music
Award) with their album Mamma Maria for the Best Sokkie Dans Album. They
have also won three VAMT awards, as well as twelve Gold, seven Platinum, three
Triple Gold and two Double Platinum sales awards. These well-deserved awards
have cemented their place within the South African music industry.
In 2012, The Campbells celebrated their twelfth
professional year in the South African recording industry and started up their
own record label – Campbell Records. They have completed their first release on
their own label with their 14th album, Voet In Die Hoek. The
hard-working duo recently completed their 15th album, Fanta and Cola.
Over the years. The Campbells have performed
extensively in South Africa, as well as in Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
