COLD FACT – RODRIQUES

(Barry Thomson, Dawn Selby, Mali Sewell & Jason Andrew)

Westville Country Club In association with Rhumbelow Theatre will present Cold Fact – Rodriguez featuring Barry Thomson and The Reals, Dawn Selby, Mali Sewell and Jason Andrew on January 11.

Who would know that an unknown album from an unknown artist in 1970 (Rodriguez) would become a huge phenomenon in South Africa? As big as, say, Elvis Presley.

Rodriguez himself was never aware of his huge success, as well as most other Americans. His music was lost in the US but, by a strange coincidence becomes a cult hit in South Africa and a symbol of rebellion for the underground white, anti-apartheid sub-culture.

The show will include well-remembered songs such as I Wonder, Establishment Blues and Sugar Man, amongst others.

Cold Fact – Rodriguez will have two performances on January 11 –at 14h30 and 19h00. Tickets R120 (R100 WCC members and pensioners) with a minimum meal option at R50 with starters and puddings as an extra. No alcohol or food may be brought on to the premises. The venue will open 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner).

The performances take place in the Westville Old Boys Hall, Westville Country Club, 1 Link Road, Westville. Booking is essential via Computicket or through Roland on 082 499 8636 or email: roland@stansell.za.net
