Manelis is a hip-hop artist from Durban - one of the
defining artists in the city’s rap development from its beginning in the mid
90’s.
The first single from his upcoming album Aircuts is titled OhRiteZharpOk produced and composed by the rapper himself. The track
is a colourful sprout of soundscapes that could have emerged had Mahlatini
& The Mahotella Queens met CJB, both under the spell of kwaito's gift to
the mid 90's, except that here, it is Manelis' discerning lyrical display that
stands out.
